Sponsor Your Family
Canadian citizen or permanent resident (PR) can sponsor their non-Canadian/PR family members to come to Canada permanently. Family members include biological children, adopted children, spouse, common law partner, parents, grandparents, and other relatives.
Spouse, Common-law Partner or Dependent Children Reunion
Who can apply:
- Canadian or permanent resident;
- At least 18 years old;
- Currently live in Canada or have intention to live in Canada permanently when sponsored family members become permanent resident;
- Not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability and is able to provide basic needs for sponsored family members.
Who can apply:
- Canadian or permanent resident;
- At least 18 years old;
- Able to support sponsored family members for 20 years in all province except Quebec, 10 years for Quebec;
- Meet income requirements.
Parents or Grandparents Reunion
Relatives Reunion
Who can apply:
- Canadian or permanent resident;
- At least 18 years old;
- Currently live in Canada or have intention to live in Canada permanently when sponsored family members become permanent resident;
- Meet income requirements and support sponsored relatives for 20 years from the date they become permanent resident.
Who can be sponsored:
- Orphaned close relative whom is under 18, orphaned without spouse or partner, and related to sponsor by blood or adoption;
- One other relatives at any age if sponsor does not have anyone else to sponsor.
Canadian parents, grandparents Super Visa
Parents and grandparents can apply for a Super Visa which enable them to stay in Canada for up to 2 years. Applicants need at least $100,000 for minimum medical coverage from a Canadian insurance company. Sponsors need to meet income requirements and invite parents/grandparents to visit.
